DEER MICE

About Us

Introduction

The deer mouse is a common household pest in the Victoria area. Many people consider it to be quite cute with its large black eyes, reddish-brown back and white chest and legs.

The natural habitat of deer mice is in the fields of rural and semi-rural areas. In Victoria we find them primarily in the Western Communities, Broadmead, and the Saanich Peninsula.

Deer mice nests are usually located underground in hollows around the roots of trees or rocks but they can also be found above ground in hollow trees, attics, cabinet voids and other unused spaces.

Disease

Unfortunately this mouse is the primary rodent suspect of the deadly Hantavirus Pulmonary Syndrome so its presence indoors cannot be tolerated.

We provide professional integrated pest management (IPM) services, a high-tech form of pest control. We are called professional pest managers, not exterminators or fumigators.  We provide pest management, not extermination or fumigation. Excluding pests before they cause a pest offence is a good example of IPM at work.
